Maybe having a Court where 6 out of 9 Justices practice an extreme version

Of a religion that only about 20% of the country practices at all (a large percentage of those practitioners being Latinos who are less extreme and dogmatic like the 7th Catholic on the Court, Sotomayor) is problem? I’d prefer the SCOTUS look something like America so, I dunno, maybe they have a clue about the population they’re making decisions for?

What we have now is a Court that looks like someone cherry picked a bunch of Catholic Republicans off of the Harvard and Yale Law Reviews and added one Latina and two Jewish Liberals. 6 out of 8 from the Northeast corridor.

For a country that is only 20% Catholic and 2% Jewish (43% Protestant and 33% Other) that seems to inherently create a disconnect between the Court and the Citizenry. And it’s a consequence of how politicized the Court has become. It either seems like right wing Northeastern Catholics are the only Republican jurists with any credibility whatsoever, or the entire point of any Republican SCOTUS nominee is to impose a minority religion’s view on abortion on the rest of the country. Neither is good.

Imagine the reaction from the right if Biden nominates a Muslim or worse yet, an atheist to the court.
