Has it happened more than once?

Actually, it’s quite easy to see how it would happen on a shallow lake, with so many boats going through a narrow channel...freshwater hulls at that...lakes can get nasty rough.

More of a wrong place at the wrong time kind of accident than some overwhelming display of idiocy...IMO. I doubt anybody could have anticipated that level washing machine chop. I wouldn’t have, and I’ve crewed on commercial boats in my younger days, and run boats my whole life.
