I watched bits and pieces. A few observations

(1) the convention's tone actually seemed strangely appropriate. this country shouldn't be in 'celebration' mode right now - it should be very focused on the many challenges it is facing. It sounds like theDonald's campaign is working to make the RNC as big a "show" as it can under the circumstances - I'm sure the Trumpletons will love it

(2) like him or not, BHO can give a speech. and having a true Constitutional scholar speak in Philly at a time when our Constitution is under attack was creative. Many Trumpletons won't make the connection

(3) the recorded stuff doesn't have the same punch. but Michelle Obama's speech was pretty impressive (I'm glad theDonald was able to fact check her and point out the the Covid death toll is much higher than she said it was ). The fact the Kasich and C McCain made appearances should speak to people who want to make the right choice but haven't voted D, maybe ever

(4) felt like I was watching a telethon at times. I was waiting for the 800 number to flash and the camera to pan to a phone bank.

(5) I didn't catch the roll call

All in all, I say it was a success for the Ds. Joe looked and sounded pretty good last night. Drawing a contrast between BHO being someone kids can look up to and theDonald being the opposite is absolutely right and should, honestly, be where this should end. Funny how I generally like these guys better as 'former presidents' (except Bill Clinton- I liked him better as a sitting president).

They pretty much ran the ball right up the middle, making this all about Trump (what it should be), not veering too far left, etc.

I'm sure there will be more audience, sounds and lights for the RNC next week. Many shiny strings for the cats that like them. The speaker list looks like a freakshow to me, but may appeal to his base. The fact that no former presidents, presidential candidates or their families will be appearing should be a warning to people on the fence (amazingly enough, there probably are a few).

Carry on.
