AOC has already done enormous harm to her own district, which I recently learned here includes a small sliver of Queens, by opposing the Amazon deal on a similar "small point". Trump (or maybe more appropriately the people who voted to saddle our country with him) has ushered in a new era of cluelessness in govt. We admire it as we rail against "elites". Those pesky people with deep understanding of issues, like that consumers do pay for tariffs, or that tax incentives require a collection of a much larger tax bill before they are "just sitting there", as AOC put it in helping to drive out about the most attractive potential corporate anchor for urban renewal from NYC.

She is built for this sort of thing that you're posting about. She is good at wagging her finger at people, and I think we all agree that the drug companies need to have fingers wagged at them. But the generic collusion is one thing, and the notion of recouping research costs while a patent remains in effect is another. So, a follow up question might be, why the disparity on patents from nation to nation, which drives one group of buyers to pay something like 1000 times what another pays?

There are some nuances (Australia doesn't qualify, but we certainly accept lower drug costs for developing economies, particularly when it comes to AIDS drugs in, say, Africa), and AOC does not give me a warm and fuzzy in terms of a strong grasp of detail and nuance.
