The Senate has a chance to stop corruption
And it doesn't really have to do with Trump (though Trump nominated him). Barry Myers was the CEO of accuweather. He profits off of the data NOAA collects (NOAA houses the National Weather Service). NOAA makes all of its data public. That makes sense. Give everybody as much scientific information as possible, and let everyone try and predict the weather. The better we are at predicting weather, the safer we are by getting more warning for serious weather events. So from a public safety perspective, everyone should agree that public information to NOAA's data is better for everybody.
Except Barry Myers. He wants to privatize this data. He thinks only a few select private companies should have this data. Accuweather would stand to profit significantly if it is one of those companies that has access to nonpublic information.
The man is not a scientist, and he has corrupt motives. His platform would make Americans less safe. He has no business running NOAA. Yet he for some reason has been nominated. The Senate has to say no to this guy.
