As long as the burden of calculating and deducting taxes is already on the


employer/payroll company, I'd much rather just simplify the tax code and get it right the first time instead of having to issue refund checks...

If people just had the correct amount deducted, you could just file an "amendment" in April IF you had non-W2 income or to submit receipts of charitable contributions (maybe those could be presented to your company's payroll rep and credited against next year's tax withdrawals?) and simplify the process for the large majority of Americans who simply have W2 income only.
