If that happened & was part of an intentional effort to work with Russians,
I suspect it would have been part of the conclusion.
Let me give you a hypothetical to explain. The Trump Tower meeting... often held up as a smoking gun. If all you do is focus on Trump Jr., his email, and a Russian lawyer with potential connections to their gov, it's easy to squint and assume there was collaborative effort between the campaign and a foreign power.
But stop and think about it. Put yourself in Jr's shoes. You're new to this politics thing, and someone sends you an email saying they have dirt on your opponent. The obvious answer is, "great!" You go to the sit down, but find the source more interested in talking about undoing sanctions, so it ends up going nowhere. Maybe a more experienced political operative does background on every potential source of information but it strikes me as unlikely.
Other evidence of collusion are the number of meetings between the Trump orbit, and those connected to the Russian government. But included in that were even tangential moments where they happened to be in the same room. Sen. Sessions was under intense pressure because he met with Kislyak while a senator. But I suspect there are a lot of politicians who meet with ambassadors. Pelosi has met with him.
My point here, it's easy to see how people could take disparate events, make a few assumptions, and try to weave them together into a narrative.
I trust Mueller, and the extensive investigation. I'm sure they broke down the "public evidence" that has been often cited, and they were clear on the collusion angle even if leaving obstruction unanswered.
I also suspect that Mueller and Barr are the kinds of fellows who will have a firm grasp of the material, and that they will make extremely compelling witnesses when brought to the Hill to testify, despite any attempts to undermine them.
