I saw that, and that level of Trump "hate" is indeed worrisome, but before

you get too happy, think about what that means. That number is most likely to only go down once they nominate an actual candidate. That gauges Trump hate, but not acceptance of the actual candidate. Put someone like Lizzie, Bernie, etc. in that spot as the only choice, and the only question is how many will that move to the "sit this one out", "vote for the Jill Stein of '20", or gasp "vote for Trump after all to avoid that catastrophe" (yeah, I'm looking at you Boca :-) )

Trump is known. And other than possibly Beto, I'm not seeing anyone on the left that will excite and convert many voters that aren't already never Trumpers to go much beyond that 48% mark. I also think you might be discounting the power of the incumbency, and the power of asking "are you better off than you were 4 yrs ago".

I do still think someone like Hickenlooper or Klobuchar could take away voters that don't "like" Trump but did and will vote for what Trump would deliver vs a loony leftie, but then the questions are do they stand a chance of winning the nomination and will that turn off too many of the extreme left (or at least make them stay away) that are providing much of the energy on the Dem side.
