and most countries that have implemented wealth taxes in the past have moved away from it. I think it will be exceptionally complicated to calculate and enforce and will incentivize the shifting of wealth outside of the US.

All that said, at least this attempts to address the wealthy not paying their “fair share”. In the past, politicians would complain about the super wealthy not paying their fair share and then proceed to “fix” it by raising INCOME taxes on high earners and not doing a thing to actually address those with very high net worths.

I think it’s overall a bad idea that will not raise nearly as much revenue as expected and will be exceedingly difficult to administer, but at least it’s an attempt to actually address the problem liberals are complaining about
