I don't know what this means

I know those are Mexican states, and I know there was some Obama gaffe about more than 50 states. Is that what this is about?

I never payed any attention to it because I knew his credentials and I'd heard him speak a lot and I knew that the smart Harvard Law professor that was President of the United States now...knows how many states are in the freaking UNION.

Call me naive maybe.
