Yes, when they made the change they said it was to represent the serpentine


walls and subsequently someone pointed out, in the Cavalier Daily that the walls were constructed to hide the slave laborers living in the garden areas behind the pavilions. The walls are unique in that they are only one brick wide and the serpentine pattern allows for supporting such thin walls.
