The healthy people who are now buying insurance would likely pay less
if EVERYONE was in the pool, because now the older and sick/injured ARE in the pool already.
If you eliminate the current pre-existing condition provision then you have doomed those with pre-existing conditions because their insurance will not be affordable. That was part of the big problem pre ACA. The one thing the GOP have talked about that I like is the penalty for "breaking coverage", i.e. dropping insurance. That still however brings back in the affordability issue. The better solution is universal coverage.
