“Risk” to the defense team. It’s their job. This could be a reason to disallow videos of trials I suppose. But the defense team’s only job is to provide the most rigorous defense possible against the charges against its clients. It should not be worried about how our broader society might take them out of context.

That’s really all he’s been doing in this thread. The NAACP tweet suggests that the defense is being blatantly racist in pointing out the victim’s attire and toenails. In an everyday mundane conversation, if something like this came up, I can see that. But in this case, Chesapeake keeps adding trial context (sounds to me like he might be a trial attorney), asserting that the defense is using this line to attempt to refute one particular assertion by the prosecution. Which might cast doubt on other assertions by the prosecution.

I suspect he’s right, and the NAACP’s apparent interpretation is a kneejerk, context-free leap.
