mask for a while when going indoors to shops, restaurants, etc., because I'm not a dick and the folks in there have no idea if I've been vaccinated or not.

It's about the messaging (and virtue signaling from boasting about something so dumb as wearing a mask while outdoors jogging). We were told we had to lockdown to flatten the curve and not overwhelm the hospital systems. We saw that happen, hospitals aren't at risk of getting overwhelmed or running out of ventilators, but we still faced restrictions (albeit less than last Mar/Apr). We were told we wouldn't be able to return to "normal" until the vaccine was here. The vaccine has been here since Nov/Dec, it's now readily available for almost anyone, and we're still far from "normal". Now we're being told even after we get vaccinated we'll still have to wear masks, social distance in many cases, still face restrictions, etc.

Like I said, if you're relatively young and otherwise healthy, at what point do you start questioning "wait, if I still have to live the way I currently am, and I have a 99% chance of survival and no serious problems if I do happen to get this virus that's diminishing in terms of cases, why am I getting this "rushed", "experimental" vaccine again?" Like it or not, folks like AM Joy (and she's just one small example) have a bully pulpit and their words impact whether or not folks indeed get the vaccine. Her messaging here (for the purposes of virtue signaling only) doesn't help make that happen IMO. Her saying "I'm fully vaccinated! And it's so liberating to be able to jog again without a mask! Please get your vaccines so you can return to normal too!" would be a much better and more effective message in terms of increasing those getting vaccinated IMO.
