I think the writer understands that quite well. That's the point of his
Satire. This is always the discussion in some form or another when talking about the word of God. The word of God is always nothing more than man's writings about ancient myths and fairy tales. Much of the content that fit in the year 1 AD didn't work anymore in 1000 AD, and what worked in 1000 didn't work in 2018 and so on.
And so some people interpret the ancient myths this way and others that way, some disregard this or that fairy tale, others decide what's literal and what's metaphorical, and when we don't agree about which is which, we ridicule the other side, and at times try to kill each other over it. Nothing deserves death more than errant fairy tale interpretation. That will always be true for enough religious people that religion will always be an incredibly destructive force. Unfortunate reality about the clash of human nature and revelation.
Apply this whole thing to sensitive political issues and the whole debate about what's still valid and what we can disavow becomes more comical, and great fodder for satire.
We're all cafeteria Christians, Jews, or Muslims. We all buy some of the ancient tales and reject others. Always will until we outgrow our addiction to mythology to help us get over our fear of the dark (death). [Post edited by hoolstoptheheels at 03/18/2018 11:03AM]
